ON
REGISTRATION OF SPECIFIED FOOD ADDITIVES

DIRECTOR GENERAL OF DRUG AND FOOD CONTROL,

Considering:

• a. that in order to supervise and control the quality of food additives in circulation, in addition to through certification system, certain food additives need to be registered with the Directorate General of Drug and Food Control,
• b. that in the framework of implementation of article 12 of the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 722/Menkes/Per/IX/88 on Food Additives, it is deemed necessary to stipulate a Decision of Director General of Drug and Food Control on Registration of Certain Foods.

in view of:

• 1. Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 722/Menkes/Per/IX/88 on Food Additives;
• 2. Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 382/Menkes/Per/VI/89 on Food Registration.

DECISION OF THE DIRECTOR GENERAL DRUG AND FOOD CONTROL CONCERNING REGISTRATION OF CERTAIN FOOD ADDITIVES

CHAPTER I
REGISTRATION

Article 1

Producers or importers of certain food additives are obliged to register products they produce or import with the Directorate General of Drug and Food Control.

Article 2

(1) Certain food additives as contemplated in article 1 are:

• a. colouring agents;
• b. artificial sweetener;
• c. preservatives;
• d. flavour enhancer.

(2) Food additives that are obliged to be registered as contemplated in paragraph (1) are those that are circulated in retail packages.

Article 3

Procedure of registration of food additives is as per the Decision of the Director General of Drug and Food Control No. 0353/B/SK/VI/89 on Implementing Guidance of Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 382/Menkes/Per/VI/89 on Food Registration.

CHAPTER II
TRANSITIONAL PROVISIONS

Article 4

Producers and importers are obliged to, within not later than one year, adjust to the provisions in this Decision.

CHAPTER III
CLOSING PROVISION

Article 5

Matters which are not already provided for in this Decision shall be stipulated later by the Director General of Drug and Food Control.
